Kalmar Sjöfartsmuseum

This small museum in the center of Kalmar contains artefacts from the history of shipping, and you can also get a guide who has sailed the seven seas and who can tell you stories about life on the sea.

At Kalmar maritime museum there are thousands of nautical objects; such as ship models, captain's boards and exotic objects. They strive to maintain the genuine atmosphere of a traditional maritime museum, so it smells of tar and the sound of the sea can be heard in the shells. Some of the areas that the museum tries to document are Kalmar Shipyard, shipping companies, the local shipping, boat types, ships, the stevedore, the harbor and sailors from the Kalmar region.

Kalmar Slott

Visit Kalmar Castle and go on guided tours, exhibitions, visit the castle shop, eat in the restaurant and let the children play in the children's castle.

Restaurants, cafes and pubs in Kalmar

Slipkajen

Restaurant Slipkajen strives to always have good food that is prepared from scratch and they preferably buy their ingredients from local producers, and always follow the current season.

During the day, lunch is served where you can choose between today's lunch or the week's fish, vegetarian, salad or hamburger. À la carte is served in the evening.

All year round, Slipkajen offers guests the opportunity to book dinners, weddings and parties. The restaurant has a nice view of the water and idyllic fishing cabins.

Café Lotsutkiken

Café lotsutkiken can be found on the Tjärhovet peninsula, which is home to the port of Kalmar. In the past, the house was used as an actual pilot's lookout, but now it is used as a cafe with a panoramic view of Kalmarsund. The bread they serve is fresh and freshly baked every day by Danska Wienerbakeriet in Kalmar.

Blomlöfs i Kalmar

This fish and shelfish restaurant is located in the guest harbor and has a fantastic view of the castle. Here you get a lunch with flavors from the sea. The specialty at Blomlöfs is their smoked products, which can also be bought in their associated shop next to the restaurant.

A charming hotel located among 18th and 19th century villas in a park with a walk of only 3 minutes from Kalmar Castle. Free Wi-Fi is offered here and between Monday and Thursday a light evening meal is included in the price.
